Our Micro Teaching

In last MMCEⅢ class, Knight's Night and I instructed in micro teaching of infinitive. The Unit is studied by junior high school second graders. We deal with infinitive which means object, and we have only 10minute, so we only did instroduction of lesson.

1.Storong points
We take in a lot of pronunciation time, and maybe students could adapt to use sentences as target.

2. Weak points
We wanted students to notice the function of “to +動詞の原形” through seeing the list which we prepared, but not we can't .

Thank you for cooperation, Please helpful coments.

How to be a successful English Teacher at.Jr.High school.

Last my ETMⅢclass, a English teacher from a junior high school in morioka came and talked to us about his experience. his speech help me to study teaching profession. so I would like to write about what is successful teacher based on Mr.M'slecture and my experience as a student or teacher.

1.What is Jr.High school now??
Mr.M talked us about the present condition of Jr.high school . JHS's students conflict between to be a child and to be a adult, and they often get unstable. The teacher have to do the lesson in consideration for their mind. and they have big defferences learning ability. Teachers must to attention every students understand or not.

2.The role of Teachers
He said that The role of teachers is Changing the students. during 50minute, we have to be change all students. The chage must be growth of mental, ability, knowledge, concentration, and so on. in order that, teacher should put his experience: learning, club activity, part time job, volunteer etc. to good account. So, good teacher have large experience. Now, we should have any thing at every opportunity.

3.Making lessons
He teach us How to make lesson at last. What will you teach students? What teaching order is best way? How devise teaching so that student understand new knowledge.these 3 points is key of good class.

Mr.M talked us more useful information! sory for my lack of expression skill.
When I was a Jr.High school student, I have a favorit English teacher. He surely have good English skill, but he also have various career and many abroad experience, and He devise funy lesson for us in every lesson. He often use pun for memorization.
Any way,We think education is supporting development of children. and Teachers must have love students. Let's study funny lesson for children! Thank you.

Approaches for teaching vocabulary

Today we learned about two approaches for teaching vocabulary:
the Teach and Learn Approach and the Learning through Input Approach.
You can see Power Point Presentation of the approaches here. I would
like to tell you about the strengths and weaknesses of each approach as
well as the approach I would use as a Junior High School teacher.

★First, I will talk about the strengths and weaknesses of The Teach and Learn Approach.
I learned this method is way of Present and Learn. I think that it is easy for children to
study, because the way is repetitions of seeing and remembering .
But, this method is very tedious .It is not practical, because there are only conections
of Vocabulary - meaning. So, this approaches needs a lot of repetition in exchange
for simple study work.

★Second, I will talk about the strengths and weakness of the Learning through Input Approach.
Comparing the Teaching and Learn Approaches, this method is practical on many points that
choosing Natural Vocabulary Groups centered around atheme, Use the vocabulary in a way
that is meaningful and comprehensible and Design activities so students can test their
knowledge.
While, maybe students can't understand contents of studying on the first of lesson. In addition,
the teacher has to pay attention many things that he uses easy words and simple grammar, uses
pictures or chart effectively, or makes sure of understanding of students.
In other words, this way, students can input a few repetitions with practicality, but it need many
time or planned structures of teaching.

Lastly as a junior high school English teacher I would use a hybrid of both two approaches.
I think that it should have adopt the Learning through Input Approach first time, after that, use
Present and Learn way. Then students can more comprehend new things.

The typical Japanese junior high school communicative activities.

Today, I am going to review two of the "typical Japanese junior high school" communicative activities presented in ETM3.
The activities I amgoing to reviw are 1.Information Gap and 7.Using movement.
you can view them here.

★Information Gap
I had done this activity when I was Junior high school, but It's a little bore.
I suggest using illustration instead of the lists, and then, I attach a example sentence or words as hints. This way, I think it is more interesting for children to learn something new.

★Using movement
This activity is play man to man, when I see the whole class, It's noisy and separately.
Then, I suggest that somneone who chosen in the class gesture for the others, and everyone answer what he did. This way, children are more concentrate. It also good way that divide the pupils into some groups.

School friends, club activity's friends, part-time job's friends and so on.
each of them supports me every time.
Last week, I was scolded by my boss at the part-time job, and I felt down about it,
but, my friend Yu-chan said to me with his smile "I was scolded everytime! don't mind!!"
then, I got easy mind. I thank him.
On the other hand, Helping friends, I also feel pleasure. I'm glad that myfriends become cheerful through my support.

My English teaching

When I was a junior highschool student, I had a very interesting teacher.
He taught us with use musics, games or movies etc. I thought very fun.
Especially,an impressive lesson was next thing :we were putted on a headphone , listened to sound of sentences in the textbook, and we were made to repeat as it speaking.
It was verry difficult for us to follow it, but, it was maybe good way for approach native speaker.
As this lesson, we hadn't look the textbook, so we depennded on only our ears.
I think that lesson had an intention which got to real utterance.
The teacher also forced not to furigana at English, or press to write sentence after once reading it.
When I was a highschool student, the school almost do for us going on to University , so,I didn't anything but face to textbooks.
